About me

the painter

I have been painting for as long as I can remember. That must have been at the end of the 1960s and was certainly not worth mentioning at the beginning. But it was probably mainly because my father painted himself from an early age and, in addition to his professions, became a versatile artist in the course of his life, who also motivated his children to paint from time to time.

My parents’ interest in art inevitably led to influences. At some point I tried to imitate French Impressionists, German Expressionists or Hundertwasser. As a result, painting watercolors gradually became an almost regular vacation activity in my youth and remained so until a few years ago. Today, I continue to paint alongside my main job.

It took me a while to find out what actually interests me the most. Two years of studying photography have also left their mark: It is the light that is reflected by all things in our world, depending on the season, time of day and weather. And it is the shadows that are created in the process. Light, shadows and colors shape everything we can see. When I paint, I subjectively reproduce what I see on paper using brushes, water and pigments. I leave a lot out – either because I haven’t seen it or because it is unimportant.
